The Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN) has appointed Mr. Oluseye David Awojobi, FCIB, as the substantive Registrar/Chief Executive. The appointment is part of the strategic efforts to sustain the transformation initiatives of the Institute.
Mr. Awojobi whose appointment was confirmed by the Governing Council of the Institute at its meeting held on Thursday, March 12, 2015, has been on Acting capacity since June 2014. With the appointment he replaces Dr. ’Uju M. Ogubunka, FCIB, who retired as the Registrar/Chief Executive of the Institute in September 2014.
Prior to his new appointment, Mr. Awojobi has occupied other key strategic positions in the Institute such as Deputy Director/Group Head, Ethics and Professionalism, 2014; Assistant Director/Group Head, Ethics and Professionalism, 2012 - 2014; Principal Manager/Head, Directorate of Education, 2009 - 2012; Principal Manager/Head, Directorate of Consultancy, Training and Research, 2008 - 2009; Senior Manager, Consultancy, 2007; Senior Manager/Zonal Coordinator(North) 2006- 2007; Manager/Zonal Coordinator (North), 2004 - 2005; Deputy Manager, Consultancy Department, 2000 – 2004 and Assistant Manager, Training Department, 2000.
Before joining the Institute in the year 2000, he was the Admin Manager, CIBN Lagos Branch, 1996- 1999; Assistant Manager/Head, Banking Operation, Greenfield Mortgage Finance Co. Ltd., 1993 – 1995 and Manager, Peoples Emergency Deposit Scheme (PEDS), Peoples Bank of Nigeria, 1992.
Mr. ’Seye Awojobi, a seasoned professional banker and an astute scholar holds a Masters degree in Business Administration (MBA) and B.Sc in Banking and Finance (2nd Class Upper) from Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye, Ogun State. He is not only a Fellow of the Institute but also an Associate member, Institute of Chartered Mediators & Conciliators; and that of the Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered). Mr. Awojobi is currently pursuing Ph.D. in Entrepreneurship, at Babcock University, Ilishan, Ogun State. He was a member of the Human Capital Development and Information Communication Technology Consultancy Committee of the FSS 2O2O project of the Central Bank of Nigeria. As a certified consultant, he has consulted for several organisations including the FGN/EU State Economic Empowerment Development Strategy (SEEDS) assessment.
Mr. Seye Awojobi, who has garnered international exposures in the management of professional Banking Institutes from various countries including India, Scotland, Ghana, Malaysia, Finland, The Gambia, is expected to bring his leadership qualities and professional skills and years of cognate experience to bear in the management of the Institute for better service delivery and value addition to all stakeholders.
He is happily married with children.

Mr. Segun Shonubi attended University of Ibadan where he obtained a Masters degree in Managerial Psychology, in 2000. He had earlier obtained a degree in Mass Communication and a Professional Diploma from Nigerian Institute of Public Relations.
Mr. Segun Shonubi, a versatile and resourceful Manager, who prior to his promotion was the Assistant Director/Head, Membership Services, is expected to use his wealth of knowledge and communication skills to enhance the service delivery to members of the Institute.
Other positions he has held in the Institute include - Senior Manager, Membership, 2006 – 2010 ; Head, Human Resources and Administration, 2003 – 2006; Head, Corporate Affairs, 2000 – 2003; Public Relations Officer, 1996 – 1999 and Executive Assistant to the Registrar/CE, 1993 – 1996. Prior to his joining the services of the Institute, Mr. Segun Shonubi was a Staff writer with Resolute Magazine (an oil and gas publication), 1991 – 1992 and was a Staff Reporter with New Nigerian Newspaper, 1989 – 1991. Mr. Shonubi is an Associate members of some professional bodies including Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria (APCON), Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) and Association of Corporate Affairs Managers of Banks (ACAMB).

Mr. Festus Metu Anyanwu, holds a B.Sc Accounting degree from the University of Lagos. He is an Associate member of both The Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria and Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators. He is a Fellow of Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria.
Until his current position as a Group Head, Mr. Anyanwu who would have the opportunity of improving
the fortunes of the Institute, was the Principal Manager, Finance, Human Resources and Administration,
2011 – 2012; Senior Manager, Membership/Zonal Co-ordinator, East, 2007- 2011; Manager, Ethics &
Professionalism Unit, 2002 – 2007; Audit Manager, Ndukwu Eke & Co. (Chartered Accountants), Port
Harcourt 2000 – 2002 and Assistant Branch Manager, Nigerian-American Merchant Bank Ltd. Port
Harcourt Branch 1993-1998.
