Fellowship


Election as an Associate
The completion of all the prescribed examinations will qualify a member to be elected an Associate.

ACIB completed members would be required to submit the following documents to be formally included:
  1. A brief Curriculum Vitae
  2. One recent passport photograph endorsed at the back by a Fellow/Associate of the Institute or Head of Department
  3. Bank draft for N5,000 being compulsory special development levy
Criteria for Fellowship election as approved by the Governing Council on 25th August, 2009
  1. ASSOCIATES IN THE BANKING INDUSTRY/OTHER FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS
    To be eligible for election as Fellow, a person:
    • Must have completed the Fellowship Application Form.
    • Must have been an Associate Member for at least 10 years.
    • Must be or had held a Senior Management Position.
    • Must have attended pre-investiture CCPD Programme.
    • Must be considered by the Board of Fellows as fit and proper for election into Fellowship of the Institute.
    • Must have fulfilled all financial obligations before investiture.

    For Associates who have not attained Senior Management position:
    • Must have been an Associate Member for at least 15 years.
    • Must be on grade of at least Assistant Manager in the Banking Industry/Other Financial Institutions

  2. ASSOCIATES IN ACADEMIA
    An Associate who is not currently engaged in banking industry but is in the academics:
    • Must have completed the Fellowship Application Form.
    • Must have been an Associate for at least 10 years.
    • Must hold or had held at least the position of Lecturer I or its equivalent in banking and finance related discipline.
    • Must have attended pre-investiture CCPD Programme.
    • Must be considered by the Board of Fellows as a fit and proper person to be elected into Fellowship of the Institute.
    • Must have fulfilled all financial obligations before investiture.

    For Associates who have not attained Lecturer I grade:
    • Must have been an Associate Member for at least 15 years.
    • Must be on grade of at least Lecturer II in the in banking and finance related discipline.

  3. ASSOCIATES IN OTHER INSTITUTIONS OR ENGAGEMENTS
    • Must have completed the Fellowship Application Form.
    • Must have been an Associate for at least 10 years.
    • Must be or had held a Senior Management Position.
    • Must have attended pre-investiture CCPD Programme.
    • Must be considered by the Board of Fellows as a fit and proper person to be elected into Fellowship of the Institute.
    • Must have fulfilled all financial obligations before investiture.

  4. APPLICANTS OF OTHER BANKING INSTITUTES WHO HAVE REGISTERED WITH CIBN.
    • Applicants must be Associates who have registered their qualifications and membership with the Institute for not less than 12 calendar months before the application for Fellowship.
    • Must have applied in writing.
    • Must have been an Associate Member of any other Banking Institute for at least ten years.
    • Must have attended pre-investiture CCPD Programme.
    • Must be in a Senior Management Position OR must hold or had held at least the position of Lecturer I in banking and finance related discipline.
    • Must be considered by the Board of Fellows as a fit and proper person to be elected into Fellowship of the Institute.
    • Must have fulfilled all financial obligations before investiture.

  5. APPLICANTS WHO ARE NOT ASSOCIATES TO BE CONSIDERED

    FOR HONORARY FELLOWSHIP
    • Only persons (including Academics) who have contributed immensely to banking and / or finance education, ethics, professionalism and practice as well as the growth of the Institute.
    • Honorary Fellowship shall not be applied for but shall be by nomination from the Board of Fellows.
    • The Board of Fellows shall request the prospective nominee to forward his/her curriculum vitae for records. The nominee, upon approval, shall be required to complete Honorary Fellowship Member’s Form.
    • All Honorary Fellows shall pay annual subscriptions.
